Boulders Beach, Cape Town - 1

Here is the first of my photos at Boulders Beach. You can see the sign to the left stating that we had finally arrived at our destination. We were too eager to see the protected African Penguins and the beach to want to stop by the sign. I've got loads of great shots to share with you today of my kids and the penguins. From the pictures, you'll quickly see why it's called Boulders Beach. Also, the penguins are wild, so even though we could walk right up to them, it was not allowed. I observed two people with cameras doing just that, when two people in uniform appeared and told them to move away. It's good to know that the penguins truly are being protected.

Wild Flower Time in South Africa - 8

I think that the wildflowers in today's set of photos are particularly beautiful. Two of these pictures were taken by my husband with his mobile phone, the one with Amanda on Jessica's shoulders and the other one of me with my little camera. Are you surprised that the camera in 1camera1mom is that simplistic? It does the job and Picasa and PicMonkey do the rest.

Wild Flower Time in South Africa - 6

These photos were taken at our Botanical Gardens. Most of these are of a recent hike. The first one was taken with my camera and the rest were taken with Hubby's mobile phone. I've only got two photos of wildflowers to share with you today, but we took lots more on a different hike, which I will post soon. Have you ever seen a green stop sign? Maybe it's meant to blend in with the botanical theme.

Wild Flower Time in South Africa - 5

I'm really enjoying putting this series together. I just love flowers and South Africa has the most amazing wildflowers in bloom right now. The photos I'm sharing with you today are of the elegant arum lilies, also known as calla lilies. These are my personal favorites and they truly steal the show. I even chose them for my bridal bouquet 17 years ago.

I took these pictures while we were visiting my in-laws near Franschhoek. I added the photos of the horses, because of the arum lilies along the back fence.

3 Sisters – 8

3 Sisters at the Beach 2010

It’s late at night here, but I realize it’s about time that I add a new photo to this series. Since my series is on the 3 sisters, their brother does not feature. That doesn’t mean that he isn’t a very precious part of our family, because he is. I thought that it would be nice to do a piece on the girls, especially since I had a lot of lovely photos of just the 3 of them. Sometimes, though, Jeremiah was also in the picture. What did I do before? I cropped him out. Yep, I cropped the handsome boy out of the photo! I don’t feel too bad about it either, because I still have the originals and he’s not too keen on me posting his picture everywhere.

So, if I cropped him out before, what did I do this time? I used the Clone tool in PicMonkey and cloned small portions of the photo to make him miraculously disappear. If it wasn’t so late, and if my eyes weren’t tired, I could have done a perfect job, but this is near perfect and so I’m satisfied. This is my second time using the Clone tool on an image of mine. I also used it on my post 3 Sisters – 5. Now you know what you can do the next time you want to make something disappear or, in the case of 3 Sisters – 5, make more of something!
