Open Air Museum, South Africa - Part 1

Kleinplasie Living
Open Air Museum,
Worcester,
South Africa

I took Amanda to see the museum at Kleinplasie, which means "small farm". The museum is mostly about the lives of the Dutch pioneers in South Africa, including some things about the Africans that were living in the area at the time.

We spent two hours walking around the museum inside and outside. When I wanted to go, Amanda asked if we could stay longer and then she asked if we could come back the next day. She often enjoys the outings that we go on and I love that about her.

This is Part 1 and I will be posting more every week. Click on the images to view them larger.

Walking in Our Neighborhood - Part 3

There's this sweet little garden path that winds along the side of our neighborhood road. It has a good variety of indigenous plants and it adds curb appeal to the home behind it. Amanda loves walking on the path and twice I've taken photos of her doing so.

Walking in Our Neighborhood - Part 2

These photos were taken while walking in our neighborhood. It was recently summertime, and the flowers in people's gardens were blooming. If you like flowers and lots of bright colors, then you'll enjoy today's pictures. You can click on the images to make them bigger.

Walking in Our Neighborhood - Part 1

I love to tell stories using photographs and sometimes pictures say more than words.

The pictures I'm sharing with you today were taken this summer, in our neighborhood in South Africa. This yellow flowering tree seemed quite happy in all its lushness. The large yellow and black beetles were certainly happy buzzing around its flowers. Amanda was curious about the beetles, but when one buzzed near her head, she no longer wanted to be near the tree.

Take time to see the beauty all around you. Welcome to my neighborhood.

On the Road - Part 3

In this new set of photos, you'll see for yourself how the pictures that I've been taking are from our car, through the glass and all. These ones were taken on our way to Cape Town. One of my favorite images is the one on the bridge with the low-lying clouds, the same bridge that you got to see coming from the other direction in Part 2. You can click on the images to view them larger.
