Lunch at Ou Meul

Today's photos are of our first time visiting the Ou Meul Bakery in the pretty hamlet of Simondium, between Paarl and Franschhoek. My in-laws invited us out for lunch to celebrate two birthdays, mine and Amanda's. It offers a picturesque setting (we sat in the garden in the shade of a large tree), friendly staff, and delicious food. Hubby and I bought two different meals, the Grilled Moroccan Chicken and Barley Bowl and the Falafel Bowl, and shared them. It was a day to remember and we'll definitely return in the future.

Lunch in Franschhoek

We took a scenic drive to Franschhoek where we met my in-laws for lunch. We ate at the Tuk Tuk Microbrewery and took advantage of the balmy weather by sitting outside. Each of us ordered one of their craft beers with our meal, except for Amanda. We all enjoyed ourselves immensely!

Franschhoek is South Africa's food, wine, and art destination. Add in the stunning views and a variety of delightful shops, and there's something here for everyone. If you missed the photos of our road trip here, I have the link below under Related Posts.

Road Trip to Franschhoek

My in-laws invited us to have lunch in Franschhoek with them. We drove a scenic route, but the day was grey, so the colors in these photos are muted. We saw plenty of bright flowers along the way. We stopped so I could get close enough to capture the pretty tall pink watsonia (Watsonia borbonica) by the Theewaterskloof dam and then the beautiful tall blue scepter (Aristea capitata) by the Franschhoek Pass. The pass has a wonderful mountain view of Franschhoek.
