English: Grandpa and Grandma
Afrikaans: Oupa en Ouma
Deutsch: Opa und Oma

You can find this neat farm stall on the R43 between Worcester and the Bain's Kloof/Tulbagh road. It's called Rietdakkie, referring to its thatched roof. There are a variety of interesting items for sale like pretty tins, handmade crafts, bottled preserves and more that also make for great gifts. They also sell seasonal produce, farm butter and food to go.

South Africa has many great farm stalls throughout the country. If you are touring here then I'd recommend you visit at least one or two farm stalls on your travels. Here's a great resource titled, "50 Favourite Farm Stalls".

Tulbagh Wine Valley - Part 5

After visiting two vibrant and scenic wine estates in the Tulbagh Valley (Twee Jonge Gezellen and Saronsberg), we stopped for lunch at the rustic shabby-chic Things I Love restaurant and deli. Here's what their website says about the place:

Located in the tranquil village of Tulbagh, with access from both the historical Church Street and van der Stel Street, you will find a deli with difference, a wine shop representing most of the local wines, a gift shop filled with treasures, and a delightful restaurant.

It was certainly all of that!

Last autumn, Hubby and I visited the Tulbagh wine valley for the day with our youngest daughter, Amanda. Our favorite stop was at the Saronsberg Wine Estate. It was one of the best all-round experiences we've had with a wide variety of wonderful wines, a picturesque setting and an interesting art gallery.

Hubby took this photo of Amanda and
me next to the lady at the lake.

The lady at the lake is featured on the Provenance wine labels. The sculpture is by Angus Taylor and is titled, "From Earth From Water". She is Saronsberg's mascot and was sculpted with stones taken from the lake.

At Saronsberg, you will see works of art from a number of contemporary South African artists.

Saronsberg has a range of award winning wines. While Amanda entertained herself, we tasted some of the fine wines, which are depicted below.
