Thali Thali Game Lodge

I try to share a variety of things on my travel blog. Sometimes the photos are from a recent outing, but today's post is about an afternoon we had at the end of December 2016. We went as a family with my in-laws to the Thali Thali Game Lodge for lunch near Langebaan on South Africa's West Coast. We didn't go for game viewing, but we did have a nice lunch and a delicious bottle of wine, the African Java Pinotage from Van Loveren Family Vineyards. We are headed this weekend for some really neat game viewing in the famous Kruger National Park and I'll be sharing about that holiday in the weeks to come.

Du Toitskloof Food and Wine - Part 2

This is a two-part series with today's post being Part 2. Last week's post (Part 1) was more about the restaurant and food. Today's post is all about the fabulous wines at Du Toitskloof Cellar. I've got a great selection to share with you and some of these wines are for export into countries like Germany.

Du Toitskloof Food and Wine - Part 1

Today's post is a two part series on Du Toitskloof Cellar and Melissa's Food located in the scenic Breedekloof Wine Valley. Amanda joined us on this particular trip where we enjoyed something to eat and drink. Robbie and I shared a bottle of red wine, the 2013 Nebbiolo, and a wood fired pizza. Amanda chose something sweet instead. She wanted a slice of the pecan cheesecake and I suggested the Earl Grey tea. Amanda said the tea tasted like lavender.

Bergsig Wine Estate and Bistro

We visited the Bergsig Wine Estate and Bistro for my husband's birthday. We had lunch there with our three girls. Jessica, Samantha, and I ordered the Creamy Seafood Soup. Samantha and I also asked for the Bobotie to share. Amanda had the Chicken Schnitzel and Robbie, my hubby, had the Oxtail. We also ordered a bottle of the award winning Touriga Nacional 2013. The service, although slow, was friendly and the view of the vineyards and mountains was beautiful.
