Atlanta - Part 1

My husband and I had a blast in Atlanta with my mom, step-dad, and brother. We were there in the summer, but now we're back in South Africa. I'll be finishing my series of our trip to the States with Atlanta. These photos are of the airport, downtown, and some homes. If you look closely at the second downtown pic, you'll even see a rainbow!

Kansas City Country Club Plaza and Fountains

My husband and I were in the States for 3 weeks during the summer visiting family and seeing the sights. In those short 3 weeks, we visited 5 States! I'm sharing photos of our trip in chronological order. I've included a few highlights of previous places of interest in the links at the bottom of this post.

We flew to Kansas City from Florida for my cousin's wedding. My mom and dad are originally from K.C. and we still have family there. I was raised a military kid, so I can't claim an "originally from" place. Currently I'm living in South Africa with my husband and 4 kids.

Kansas City has always been a favorite of mine. It's known as the City of Fountains, because they have more fountains than any other city in the world other than Rome. The photos directly above and below are of the famous J.C. Nichols Memorial Fountain, which was sculpted by Henri Greber in 1910 and installed in the Country Club Plaza district in 1960. The beautiful Country Club Plaza was established in 1922, spanning 15 blocks with 100 shops and 30 restaurants - and, of course, lots of fountains!

One of the best times to visit K.C. is in December to see the Plaza Lights, which light up the plaza from Thanksgiving to mid-January. It's been a long time since we saw the Christmas lights, but it's something that I'd love to do again if I had the chance.

The Dali Museum

The Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida houses the largest collection of Dali's works outside Europe. The fascinating art of Salvador Dali is housed inside a building of stunning architecture and set in a beautiful location on the downtown waterfront. We did a self-guided tour with headsets.
