Old Town, San Diego

Family and friends who gathered in La Jolla for my grandmother's 90th birthday spent a few days around her birthday doing fun things together. Old Town, San Diego was one memorable outing. It was California's first settlement in 1769 with only a mission and a fort!

My grandmother can't walk far, so she was pushed with her wheelchair through Old Town. We arrived late afternoon to enjoy an early dinner celebration with her, but I'll share those photos next week. Today's photos capture the historical charm of Old Town and some of the interesting things for sale at the gift shops.

Oh, looks like you had fun with your family. Old Town is a great place to walk around and see tons of colors. As a matter of fact, I have not been in a long time (even though I go frequently to San Diego). Need to stop by again.

Thanks, Ruth! It was my first time and I really enjoyed it! Wishing you a lovely week ahead.
Beautiful pics. I was just in Old Town in April and did a blog on it. Your pics are better.

Yes, I remember your pictures and wondering at the time if I'd be seeing it. That's so sweet of you to like my photos! I hope your future endeavors are going forward smoothly!
I love bus & tram tours and shopping at interesting markets. I never really made it to San Diego in my trips to California. I really missed something I fear.

We didn't have a lot of time and only walked some of Old Town and looked at some of the things for sale. I just had a photo taken by the tram-like buses, since they looked interesting. We went to my cousin's wedding about a week later and the bride and groom along with the bridesmaids and groomsmen went with a tram-like bus to the church and later to the reception venue. It was a quaintly unique mode of transport. :)
Looks like a nice day. :)
Theses pics are fantastic, Tina :) I love the history and all the pottery and art is beautiful. SO colorful! It just so happens I just finished a wedding gift that's the Welcome sign that requests guests to turn off their phones and cameras for an "Unplugged" ceremony. It's a destination wedding and they love to travel so I made it a map. It's San Diego :)
