Chihuly Collection of Glass Art

The Chihuly Collection of glass art sculptures can be found in St. Petersburg's Central Art District. The colors are a feast for the eyes and many of the pieces are huge! Photography is encouraged, which made me super happy. I have Chihuly's story in photographs below and don't forget to click on the images to enlarge them! I think my favorite room was the narrow hall with glass art in the ceiling. Also, I have my brother standing next to one of the larger sculptures so that you can get a better idea of its size.

The Moon Under Water

One of the places my step-dad took us for a light lunch was the British pub and restaurant, The Moon Under Water. There's an interesting story behind the name and it has to do with drunkards being recruited by dubious means to join the British Army in the 18th century. To read the shocking story that inspired the name, visit their about page. We also got some great views of St. Pete and close to one of the many large banyan trees.

Mazzaro's Italian Market

Mazzaro's Italian Market is an awesome deli in St. Petersburg, Florida, where you can buy freshly made pasta and mozzarella cheese, freshly baked breads and cakes, and many other wonderful things. There are bar stools in the bakery section for people who want to stop for a sandwich and coffee. My mom and step-dad visit there often to buy bread, mozzarella, and rum balls to satisfy that sweet craving. It's impossible not to salivate when walking through Mazzaro's. They even have an extensive wine selection.

Fourth Street Shrimp Store

If you're looking for good seafood in St. Petersburg, Florida, without all the fuss, then go where the locals go. We ate delicious fried shrimp at Fourth Street Shrimp Store and, when you see my food pics, you'll see just how casual the dining experience is. Being an American expat tourist, I enjoyed people watching too. And, in case you missed it, another great casual dining experience with the view of the Gulf of Mexico is Paradise Grille.
