Indigenous and Invasive Plants

Today I'm featuring three plants that we see on our walks in the veld near our house. The first one is a favorite of mine and it's indigenous to South Africa. Its Latin name is Lobostemon fruticosus. It’s a small evergreen shrub that attracts bees with its pretty pinkish bell-shaped flowers. The other two are pretty and attract bees too, but they are invasive alien plants. Echium plantagineum has bright purple flowers and Acacia saligna has yellow. Our dogs are also in some of the photos. They are both rescue dogs. Biscuit is the female Collie mix and Koda is the male German shepherd mix.
