This Cape Dutch home in De Doorns in the Hex River Valley dates back to 1769. In the photo above, I'm standing next to Marion, the lady of the home. It was a real treat being given a tour. We were even served tea and homemade crepes in the courtyard near the kitchen. There were two ladies in the kitchen when we arrived. Besides making crepes, they were also making marmalade. It really felt like we were stepping back in time.
Marion has only recently moved into this manor house with her husband. All of their furniture and things from their previous home fit perfectly. Not only is the home beautiful, but it's also nestled between mountains and vineyards. I don't have any pics of the view, but I'm including three at the end from a previous time when we were in the area.
All the photos of the Cape Dutch home were taken either by me or my husband using his mobile phone. Unfortunately, I didn't have my trusty little Canon PowerShot with me with its wide-angle lens. It would have made all the difference.
