Harvest Table Bistro

Last year we took a Sunday drive to Wolseley, which is a small town in the Western Cape near us. We popped in at the Harvest Table Bistro for lunch. The setting was perfect for a sunny day and they have a good selection of food and beverages. If you're taking a drive that way, I'm sure you'll find something on the menu that you like. If you have small children, be aware that there is a pool outside, which you can partially see behind me in the photo below.

Robbie chose an award winning Pale Ale craft beer called Butcher Block by Jack Black's Brewing Company. Samantha had a burger and Amanda a pizza. Both girls were happy with their choices. Robbie and I ate the Sunday main meal, which didn't look nice to photograph and reminded me of cafeteria food. The photos I'm sharing, though, should give a fair reflection of the place and the quality of the food.

The Calabash Bush Pub that I shared about last week is near Wolseley. This small town is easily overlooked, but there's a variety of things to see and experience like picturesque accommodation, good restaurants, wine tasting and olive tasting.

Trust me, it's worth it!

This last photo below was taken at Waverley Hills, another restaurant in Wolseley that offers good food and stunning views. They were unfortunately fully booked on that Sunday and we were curtly dismissed by a snobbish maître d' (headwaiter). The sign at the entrance encourages drivers to pop in, so they should perhaps have another sign that says fully booked on those days. I also had tried to phone earlier in the week, but no one had answered.

This one keeps me enjoying my surroundings when I am missing family in the States like my mom. ;)
I can't remember if you ever mentioned where you lived in the U.S. Which state?
I grew up an Army Brat and the wanderlust never left me. I lived in Missouri, Iowa, three times in Virginia, and twice in Germany. My mom lives in Atlanta, my dad in Japan, my brother in China, and aunts, uncles and cousins across the States and other countries too. ;)

I think you had mentioned the "army brat" aspect at some point 'cause it sounds familiar. You really were all over the place! :)
That ale looks interesting.

Your trip to beautiful Switzerland looks amazing! I have been to Switzerland a few times growing up since my aunt, uncle and cousins were from there and we were living in Germany, so it was easy to make the trip. That first part of your trip sounded hectic. The photo still turned out nicely. Take care!
