Visiting the Estuary at Velddrif

One of our favorite fishing towns on South Africa's West Coast is Velddrif. It's an estuary on the Berg River and a bird's paradise. It's also where some of South Africa's sea salt is produced. We took my in-laws' dog, Ziggy, with us on this outing.

Tina, I'm always so impressed by the fact that you and your family make a point of having these wonderful trips---a respite from the "every day"---these enjoyable (and educational!) excursions. I don't have the time or means for any of it--ever--and it's such a pleasure being able to enjoy your trips vicariously through your beautiful pics and posts, so thank you!

And, you know---geese just crack me up. Love that pic, though they DO look pretty calm and quiet ;)

Thanks! Glad you can travel with us!
We drove to Velddrif from my in-laws’ house, so it was close compared to from our house. We packed lunch and drinks, so we didn’t need to spend any money either. ;)

Hey Ziggy, smooch. Don't you love those long boardwalks that take you smack into the middle of it all? If I close my eyes and blink like Jeannie do you think I can be transported there? Very inviting series of photos.
