On the West Coast at Velddrif

Every Christmas holiday we enjoy taking an afternoon drive to Velddrif on South Africa's West Coast. It's not far from my in-laws' beach house. On this outing our two oldest kids accompanied us, Jeremiah and Jessica.

Velddrif is a coastal fishing town, located on the estuary where the Berg River flows into St. Helena Bay. The estuary is home to a variety of birds and is a popular spot for birdwatching. Other activities are fishing, yachting, and visiting art galleries. The town also has two large salt works that provide most of the salt for the Western Cape. I got photos of the Cerebos salt factory from the car while Hubby was driving.
