Jason's Hill Private Cellar - Part 3

After our scrumptious Valentine's breakfast at Jason's Hill Bistro, we did some wine tasting. The wines produced at Jason's Hill Private Cellar are by Ivy Du Toit, one of South Africa's pioneer woman winemakers, who developed a passion for wine making at a young age. She has kept alive the tradition of vine growing and wine making that was begun by her family's ancestors in 1844. She won the Diner's Club Young Winemaker of the Year in 2003 and the Woman Winemaker of the Year in 2004. We actually saw her in action from the window that looks onto the wine production from inside the Bistro.

We thoroughly enjoyed tasting some of the whites and reds. We ended up buying three bottles of wine: Shiraz 2010, Merlot 2010 and Cabernet Sauvignon 2009. The latter two had won awards. Click on the images to view them larger.

Thanks for popping over, Steve!
I am not a huge wine fan, but I really love the bear coat rack.

Thanks, Rhonda! I thought your photo was funny. I think some countries don't think "sh*t" is a bad word, but it's usually not allowed to be used in my house.
It's always nice to enjoy a glass or two of good wine. Love the wood carving sculpture.
Have a lovely day!!

I'm sure you can find South African wines in your area. They are becoming more popular overseas. I just like a couple of sips of wine, somewhere between half a glass to a full glass. ;) Take care!
That wine looks really good! I gave up alcohol for lent and am looking forward to having a glass of wine on Easter. Enjoy the rest of your day!

Hi Jamie! Thanks for visiting and I do hope you get to taste some fabulous South African wines in the States. You can always look up the names of the wine cellars and their wines on the internet if you have a selection and aren't sure which ones to buy. I checked out your LA County Fair Food post and thought your capture of the rainbow behind the ride in the last photo was pretty neat. Take care!
