Tulbagh Wine Valley - Part 1

Tulbagh (pronounced like "tool" and "Bach"), is a quaint town with a vibrant wine route. We took a drive there one day in May and did a lot in a short time. There is so much to see and do that we want to go back.

The map below shows the places of interest in the Tulbagh Wine Valley. We only had time to visit two wine estates, which I will share in upcoming posts.

Click on the images to enlarge them.

When you visit Tulbagh, you also have to take time to see the town. We took a stroll through the historic section on Church Street.

Most of the buildings in Church Street are heritage homes.

Church Street: Heute stehen die meisten Gebäude in dieser Strasse unter Denkmalschutz.

This is so pretty! Like to see houses in the valley has some history behind them. It is always nice to see a lovely building hiding behind the vineyards.

Thanks, Ruth! Your photos of the Old Town were wonderful to look at. My favorite was The Contract Hall with the amazing columns. It's mind-boggling to think that it was all made by hand.

That seems like a little town that I would love to visit and spend time at. A quiet place to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Beautiful! Where exactly is this at?

It's about one-and-a-half hours drive from Cape Town, South Africa. Most of the outings I share here are close to where we live in the Western Cape, the wine region of South Africa.

It's a very pretty valley. It looks like a small church. I wonder how many people it can seat.
Such a cute little town. I must admit, you caught my attention by the mere mention of wine. :) Found you over at Photo Friday.
