Bon Courage Wine Estate

One of our favorite wine estates in the Robertson Wine Valley is Bon Courage. It's a family business with Father André as the founder and viticulturist. His eldest son Jacques focuses on vinification and his grandson, Pieter, is an accountant who looks after the financial side and other aspects of the business.

It's a beautiful drive through the valley and the picturesque estate is always worth a visit. The wine tasting experience is unpretentious with award winning wines at affordable prices. The last two photos are of our purchases. These wines also make great gifts!

Viljoensdrift River Cruise

My mom and step-dad came to visit us in South Africa for two weeks in December. We celebrated my step-dad's birthday, which is also in December, on the Viljoensdrift River Cruise. We were nine people in total including my eldest daughter's boyfriend. The wind was strong, so we had to hold on to our picnic things, but we had so much fun that we didn't mind!

Viljoensdrift is also a wine farm. It's located in the Robertson Wine Valley along the Breede River. Their heritage for wine making began in 1818 when the first vines were planted by their French Huguenot forefathers. Continuing this proud tradition, brothers Fred and Manie Viljoen are producing award winning wines.

Oystercatcher in Britannia Bay

My mom and step-dad stayed in a two-bedroom apartment at the Oystercatcher in Britannia Bay during our Christmas holiday last December. Samantha and Amanda slept in the upstairs room with the balcony. The rest of us were at my in-laws' beach house. If you missed the Christmas Day photos, then you can visit that post here. If you want to see more of the coast, then check out the related links below.

Britannia Bay - Part 5

We had a lot of good food over the Christmas holidays at my in-law's house. Eating Cape Yellowtail was a first for me. My father-in-law cooked it over an open fire. My mom is in one of the pics where the yellowtail is being prepared for the braai (BBQ). My step-dad made the delicious watermelon salad pictured above. I also have a few fun shots of kites flying at the beach.
